GRAYLING, TROUT AND
SALMON FROM THE
ARCTIC TUNDRA

Name of the trip: Tundra Fishing in Komi Republic
Fish Species: Atlantic salmon, Brown trout and Grayling
Catches: In the upper parts you will catch numerous big brown trouts averaging 4 lbs and grayling averaging 3 lbs. In the latter half you will meet big Atlantic salmon averaging 11 lbs
Fishing Method: Fly or spinning
Period: June and September each 10 days, 8 days of fishing and 7 nights on the river.
Location: The Komi Republic can be found between Arkhangel’sk and Nar Yan Mar in Northern ( Arctic ) Russia. Possible rivers: Velikaya, Volonga and Belaya.
Route: Europe-St.Petersburg-Arkhangel’sk-river-Arkhangel’sk-St.Petersburg-Europe

Tour Description: On Fridays you will arrive in Arkhangel’sk where you will stay in the luxury Purnovalok Hotel. Next morning the Helicopter will bring you in 2 hrs from Arkhangel’sk to the upper part of one of the wonderful Tundra rivers. From there you will either live in a fixed camp or float down in your own raft some 80-100 km’s guided by an experienced guide. In case of float trip you will sleep in comfortable tents on self-chosen locations. On Saturday the next week the helicopter will pick you up and bring you back to Arkhangel’sk for your flight to St.Petersburg where possibly an overnight stay will be needed before your flight to other European destinations.

Climate/Temperature: Continental climate with rather high temperatures and 24 hrs of daylight.
Valuation: Apart from your group you will meet nobody else. There are no houses, just the odd reindeer. Large brown trouts and large strong grayling will be caught on fly in great numbers. If waterlevel is normal you will also catch some big salmon on the fly; if low, you will only catch them in the deep pools with a Crocodile spoon. This trip has to be regarded as safe.
